Don’t Miss Out: $1 Million Mega Millions Prize in Arizona Set to Expire Soon
According to The Sun, Lottery officials are urging players in Arizona to double-check their Mega Millions tickets, as a million-dollar prize remains unclaimed in the state.
A fortunate ticket holder could soon become Arizona’s next millionaire if they purchased their ticket at a specific gas station.
The Mega Millions ticket, drawn on August 20, 2024, carries a significant prize but is set to expire in a few months.
The winning numbers were 5, 20, 26, 49, 51, and 24, with a Megaplier of 4X.
Arizona Lottery officials have identified that the winning ticket was sold at the Chevron station in San Luis, located south of Yuma near the Mexico border.
Officials have issued a reminder for players to check their tickets, as the million-dollar prize will expire on February 16, 2025.
ACT FAST
Mega Millions and Fast Play game tickets expire 180 days from the date of the draw.
Prizes over $600 must be claimed at an Arizona Lottery Office. Alternatively, tickets can be claimed by completing a claim form and mailing it to the office.
According to the Arizona Lottery’s website, “Use of unclaimed prizes is specifically defined in Arizona revised statutes. Most of the funds are added back into the Arizona Lottery’s prize fund to create more winning opportunities for players. Additionally, a portion of unclaimed prizes supports our legislatively mandated beneficiaries.”
HOW TO PLAY
Mega Millions tickets are priced at $2.00 per play.
Players select six numbers from two separate pools—five different numbers from 1 to 70 (the white balls) and one number from 1 to 25 (the gold Mega Ball).
For those who prefer to leave it to chance, there’s the Easy Pick/Quick Pick option.
The jackpot is won by matching all six numbers in a drawing. The odds of winning the Mega Millions jackpot stand at 1 in 302,575,350.
Mega Millions offers nine ways to win, with prizes ranging from the jackpot down to $2.
For an extra $1 per play, players can opt for the Megaplier, which multiplies non-jackpot prizes by 2, 3, 4, or 5 times.
The Megaplier is drawn before each Mega Millions drawing on Tuesday and Friday nights.
From a pool of 15 balls, five are marked with 2X, six with 3X, three with 4X, and one with 5X.
The Megaplier allows players to increase the value of any non-jackpot prize they win based on the Megaplier ball drawn.
Meanwhile, one lottery winner spent all their prize money in less than two months after hitting the jackpot, while another managed to pay off their home just one day after purchasing it—thanks to the lottery.
