DOGGY DAMAGE: Americans can claim one-time payment from $825,000 poop bag settlement – and no proof of purchase is required
According to THE SUN, Pet owners who purchased Earth Rated’s Certified Compostable Poop Bags between October 28, 2015, and June 13, 2024, may be eligible for compensation following a recent class action lawsuit. The lawsuit alleged that the bags, advertised as compostable, did not actually break down as claimed. Earth Rated has settled the case for $825,000 but denies any wrongdoing.
Eligibility Criteria
To qualify for compensation, claimants must meet the following criteria:
- Purchase Requirement: The product must have been purchased within the specified dates.
- Product Type: The claim must be related to the Earth Rated Certified Compostable Poop Bags.
Proof of purchase is not required to file a claim, though it can increase the payout amount. Those without proof can claim up to three products for a maximum of $6, while those with proof can receive $2 per product with no cap on the number of products.
Filing a Claim
Claims can be submitted online through the dedicated settlement website. The deadline to file a claim is December 9, 2024. The deadline to exclude yourself from the settlement or object to it is September 23, 2024. A final hearing is scheduled for October 23, 2024.
