According to The Sun , A United Dairy Farmers gas station in Circleville, Ohio, is set to close its doors after 30 years of service. Customers have only two days left to visit the station, which has been operating since the early 1990s, according to The Scioto Post.
The mayor of Circleville has confirmed that no proposals have been submitted to develop the property once it is vacated. Additionally, the Pickaway County auditor’s office has stated that the property has not been sold.
Employees at the station are encouraging locals to stop by and enjoy the final days of the store before it closes for good.
This closure comes as part of a broader trend in the energy industry. In March, Shell announced plans to close 1,000 gas-focused store locations. The company intends to shutter 500 gas stations in 2024, with another 500 set to close in 2025, while also expanding its electric vehicle (EV) charging infrastructure.

The rise of electric vehicles (EVs) has contributed to changes in the gas station landscape. The US EV market saw significant growth in 2024, with companies like Hyundai, Ford, Lucid, and Rivian achieving record monthly sales of all-electric cars. However, Tesla, a dominant player in the EV market, has fallen short of its sales targets in both quarters of 2024.
As more consumers look to save on gas by turning to plug-in hybrid and mild hybrid vehicles, traditional car manufacturers, including Ford, GM, Volkswagen, and Volvo, have scaled back their initial aggressive moves toward all-electric vehicle production. This shift reflects changing consumer preferences and the evolving automotive market.
