Cooler Temperatures and Rainfall Continue Across New Mexico
According to krqe, Cooler temperatures persist across New Mexico today, with additional rain expected later this afternoon and into the evening.
Temperatures throughout New Mexico this week have returned to seasonally normal levels. In cities like Albuquerque, yesterday’s highs were actually below the average for this time of year. These cooler conditions are forecasted to last into early next week and potentially beyond.
Yesterday brought significant rainfall to the state, and this trend will continue today. The heaviest rain is anticipated in the mountainous regions. The National Weather Service (NWS) has issued Flood Watches for the Jemez, Sangre de Cristo, and Sacramento Mountains, which will remain in effect until the evening of August 28. Additionally, a Flash Flood Warning is in place for the Salt Burn Scar until 2:00 p.m. MDT on August 28.
Rain chances are expected to persist tomorrow, with a shift in focus towards eastern New Mexico. On Friday, a cold front will move into the state, bringing heavy rain to the eastern areas. By the weekend, drier air will begin to move in, potentially reducing rain chances on Sunday and into Labor Day.
