“Bay Area Woman and Lawyer Shot Dead: Allegedly by Her New Boyfriend”
A Bay Area woman and her attorney have been identified as the victims of a fatal double shooting in Napa, confirmed the county coroner’s office on Friday.
Georgina Padilla, 38, of Napa, and Ralph Andino III, 54, of American Canyon, were discovered outside an apartment complex on the 700 block of Lincoln Avenue on Thursday. First responders arrived at around 9:45 a.m. to find both individuals suffering from gunshot wounds. Despite efforts to save them, Padilla and Andino were pronounced dead at the scene.
Andino’s family informed NBC Bay Area that Padilla was one of his clients, and they believe he may have been visiting her apartment at the time of the shooting. Andino’s law firm, as noted in an archived version of its website, handled various cases, including family law, personal injury, and DUIs.
According to the Napa Police Department, a suspect was identified “within hours” of the incident. He was located less than four hours later at the intersection of Juarez and 2nd streets. When officers activated their lights and sirens, the suspect allegedly fled in his vehicle, prompting a chase to Kennedy Park. There, his car “became disabled,” and he refused to exit despite officers’ commands.
“The suspect continuously refused to surrender and ultimately suffered a self-inflicted gunshot wound,” Napa police reported. The suspect, identified as Baltazar Rangel Juarez, 28, was treated for his injuries at the scene and is currently hospitalized. KTVU crime reporter Henry K. Lee stated that Juarez was Padilla’s “new boyfriend.”
Anyone with information about the shooting is urged to contact Napa police Det. Dustin Dodd at 707-257-9568. The investigation remains ongoing.
