Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt’s Legal Dispute Over Château Miraval Continues

The legal saga between Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt continues as the former couple remains entangled in disputes over their shared winery, Château Miraval. Despite their split in 2016, the conflict over the French estate, which they purchased together in 2008, persists. In 2022, Pitt, 60, sued Jolie, 49, alleging she sold her stake in the winery without his consent.

Two years later, the civil suit, along with a separate custody battle involving their children—Maddox, 22, Pax, 20, Zahara, 19, Shiloh, 18, and twins Vivienne and Knox, 16—remains unresolved. On August 1, Jolie’s legal team filed new documents related to the Château Miraval case.

The latest filing, obtained by E! News on August 2, supports Jolie’s previous request for Pitt to produce records related to a 2016 plane incident. Jolie had alleged in a 2022 court filing that Pitt choked one of their children during the incident. Pitt’s attorneys had previously dismissed this request as a “sensationalist fishing expedition,” according to a filing obtained by E! News on July 17.

Jolie’s team counters that she is defending herself against what she views as baseless allegations from Pitt. The documents state, “Pitt’s narrative is that this case is just about a ‘business dispute.’ But that is Pitt’s theory. Jolie’s theory is that this case is about Pitt’s attempt to use Miraval as leverage to control and enforce her silence.” The jury will ultimately decide based on the evidence, but Jolie asserts she is entitled to gather the evidence needed to support her claims.

Jolie’s legal team further asserts that she “was not acting with malice” when she sold her stake in the winery. They argue that Pitt refused to buy her interest unless he received a newly expanded non-disclosure agreement (NDA), enforceable by an $8.5 million holdback intended to silence her about alleged abuse and cover-up.

The issue of NDAs has been prominent, as a judge recently ordered Jolie to produce eight years’ worth of such agreements. A court filing from April revealed that a judge had granted Pitt’s motion for Jolie to provide “all non-privileged documents in her possession” and a “privilege log” detailing any documents she asserts as privileged, allowing Pitt’s team to evaluate her claims of privilege.

E! News has reached out to Pitt’s team for comment but has yet to receive a response.
