ACT FAST: Final chance to get one-time payments up to $3,244 from ‘fingerprint’ settlement and no proof is needed to get the cash
According to The Sun, U.S. citizens are being urged to check their eligibility for a one-time payment of up to $3,244 as part of a class action settlement involving Magid Glove. This is the final opportunity for those affected by the lawsuit to apply for cash, with no proof of purchase required to make a claim.
Settlement Overview
The $5.175 million settlement stems from accusations that Magid Glove violated Illinois laws by using “fingerprint time clocks” and temperature scanners over an eight-year period. Anyone who utilized these devices at Magid’s Romeoville, Illinois, facility between January 8, 2016, and August 30, 2024, may be eligible for compensation.
According to the lawsuit, Magid Glove failed to properly notify individuals regarding the collection of biometric information through these devices, which plaintiffs argue is a violation of Illinois’ Biometric Information Privacy Act (BIPA).
Compensation Details
While Magid has not admitted any wrongdoing, they agreed to the settlement to resolve the class action lawsuit and avoid the costs and distractions of litigation. Eligible individuals who used a fingerprint scanner may receive approximately $3,244.38. Those who had their temperatures taken using a scanner can claim a payment of $135.26. If a claimant used both devices, they can apply for payments from both categories.
How to Claim
To claim their share, individuals must first confirm their eligibility by verifying that they used the devices at the specified facility within the designated time frame. Interested parties can visit the Magid Glove BIPA settlement website to start the application process. A claim login ID and pin are required to fill out the form.
Important deadlines are approaching: individuals have until October 29 to exclude themselves from the settlement or object to its terms. The final deadline for submitting claims is November 19, and an approval hearing is scheduled for December 20.
