According to THE SUN, Americans impacted by Bosch’s $2 million settlement over defective home appliances could be eligible for payments up to $400. The German company, known for its kitchen and home appliances, is facing a class-action lawsuit concerning its microwaves and ovens. The lawsuit claims these appliances contained defective variable-frequency drive (VFD) control panels, leading to issues such as fading, dimming, or panel failure.
Bosch has denied any wrongdoing but has agreed to pay $2 million to resolve the dispute. Consumers need to act quickly, as the deadline to claim benefits is approaching.

Eligibility and Payment Details
To qualify for compensation, consumers must meet two criteria:
- Product Purchase: Individuals must have purchased Bosch microwaves or ovens, obtained them as part of a home purchase or remodel, or received them as a gift.
- Model Numbers: The appliances must have one of the following model numbers:

Benefits Available
Eligible class members can receive different tiers of benefits:
- Tier 1(a) Benefits: Up to $400 for documented expenses related to a past display failure on Bosch microwaves or ovens. Acceptable documentation includes model and serial numbers, receipts, checks, credit card statements, warranty registrations, photographs, repair communications, or service invoices. It is not necessary for customers to have already experienced a panel failure to claim this benefit.
- Tier 1(b) Benefits: $400 payment for those who anticipate future display failures.
- Tier 2 Benefits: A three-year extended service plan, which includes the replacement of faulty VFD control panels.
Deadlines for Claims
- Tier 1(a) Claims: Must be submitted by September 3, 2024.
- Tier 1(b) and Tier 2 Claims: Must be submitted by February 12, 2025.
