A seatbelt traffic stop becomes a drug bust, according to the NMSP
SANTA FE, N.M. (Alamogordotownnews.com) – The New Mexico State Police (NMSP) arrested a man following a traffic stop on July 16.
In the afternoon, an officer pulled over a vehicle for a seatbelt violation. During the stop, the passenger, identified as 19-year-old Jesse Angel Tredway, was found to have an outstanding warrant for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.
Authorities obtained a search warrant for Tredway’s backpack, where they allegedly discovered cash, cocaine, heroin, fentanyl, and other items used in drug trafficking.
Tredway was taken to the Santa Fe Adult Detention Center and charged with six counts of trafficking, five counts of distribution of a controlled substance, violation of cannabis trafficking regulations, and failing to wear a seatbelt.
