500 California Stimulus Payment: What city in California is sending a $500 monthly payment and how to apply?
A new pilot program in Pomona, California, will soon allow a select group of residents to receive $500 per month for 18 months through the Pomona Household Universal Grants Program. Applications for this initiative will open on Monday, with 600 recipients to be chosen via lottery.
The program features two groups of grant recipients:
- Group 1: 250 selected applicants will receive $500 each month for 18 months, totaling up to $9,000.
- Group 2: 350 randomly chosen applicants will receive $20 per month for 18 months.
The application period began on June 17 and will end on July 9 at 01:00 ET, or July 8 at 23:00 PT. Residents can submit their applications and supporting documents through the FORWARD web portal.
The lottery draw for the 600 applicants will occur on July 10, 2024. Applications will be reviewed from July 10 to August 1, 2024, during which time applicants may update their documentation if needed.
Eligibility Requirements
To qualify for the $500 monthly grant, applicants must:
- Reside in Pomona and be at least 18 years old at the time of application.
- Be a parent or legal guardian of a child under the age of four.
- Meet at least one of the following criteria:
- Have faced adverse effects due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
- Live in a Qualified Census Tract.
- Currently receive benefits such as Federal Pell Grants, Medicaid or MediCal, or the Children’s Health Insurance Program.
- Have a household income at or below 65% of the Area Median Income.
- Agree to sign an informed consent form.
