10 Arrested in Retail Theft Sting at San José Target by Santa Clara Sheriff’s Task Force
The Santa Clara County Sheriff’s Office’s Retail Theft Task Force recently arrested 10 individuals at a Target store in San José. According to a post on the Sheriff’s Office Facebook page, the arrests took place last week at the Target on N. Capitol Avenue. The suspects were caught stealing a variety of items, including beauty supplies, medication, baby formula, health products, ink cartridges, and a scooter.
Captain Brendan Omori praised the task force’s efforts, stating, “Our unit’s aggressive enforcement is becoming known in retailer circles.” Retailers have expressed their appreciation for the task force’s work in reducing theft at their stores. In this particular sting operation, over $8,000 worth of stolen merchandise was recovered.
The task force is a collaborative effort involving the Santa Clara County District Attorney’s Office, the San José Police Department, and various specialized units within the Sheriff’s Office. Their coordinated approach not only results in immediate arrests but also helps generate leads on criminal organizations that buy and resell stolen goods for profit.
